Enigmatic performer and Alujo specialist, Laolu Gbenjo is geared up for his American Tour this August. The music genius and his LG Band have been nothing short but amazing in the last couple of months with major shows rocking the shores of the UK, Ghana, Republic de Benin and across major cities in Nigeria.
Laolu and his band are set to serenade their fans to unreleased recordings, he tells Weekend Beats. His recent show, Gratitude, which was embodied with an atmosphere of good vibes, sparkling energy and admirable uniqueness, is a hint of what should be expected of his American Tour, he says.
Narrating his musical influence he said, “My music influence would be great people like King Sunny Ade and Obey Commander. Even Fela Anikulapo and whether you like it or not, that’s a name that has come to stay forever. His influence in music is still very important to our music in Nigeria today.”
With several awards won and recognition home and abroad, Laolu assures his teeming fans stating, “What I do is contemporary high life and I also do tungba.
Generally, as I do my music, I want to be remembered for songs of hope, healing and songs that bring joy to people and all of that. My music talks about joy, happiness, celebration of life and anything that has to do with a praise party.”
