Emerging music sensation, Musa Abdulmalik Oyarekhau, popularly known as Big Berry, has opened up about his journey, passion, and vision for the music industry.

Big Berry’s music career began to take shape in secondary school, where friends coined the nickname “Malikberry.” Upon entering Auchi Polytechnic, the nickname evolved into “Big Berry.”

“It’s a name that represents my growth and passion for music,” Big Berry explained.

Speaking in an interview, Big Berry shared his humble beginnings, saying, “My upbringing wasn’t easy, but my mother, Fatima, taught me to treat the world with love and peace.” Born in Edo State, Nigeria, Big Berry’s family dynamics include 12 siblings and a stepmother.

As an Afrobeat and hip-hop artist, Big Berry aims to utilize his music to promote unity and positivity. “I want my songs to inspire love and peace,” he emphasized. Drawing inspiration from industry giants Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Rema, Big Berry remains committed to his artistic vision.

When asked about the challenges he faces, Big Berry noted, “The only challenge is between me and me; every day, till I become better.” His most cherished moments are spent recording in the studio, crafting music that aligns with his values.

Despite economic hardships in 2024, Big Berry has experienced significant growth. “This year has taught me a lot and given me confidence to achieve my goals,” he said. Fans can anticipate his debut EP release by year’s end, promising an “amazing” experience.

Big Berry believes government support for the entertainment industry could be backed up through initiatives like schools for creative development and sponsorship of talented artists.

Looking ahead to 2025, Big Berry’s focus will be on promoting his EP and spreading love and peace through music. As he succinctly puts it, “My EP is coming!”
