In a development that has rocked Nigeria’s gospel music industry, popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has levelled serious allegations at gospel music executive Eezee Tee, accusing him of engaging in music royalty fraud. According to Wazobia, overwhelming evidence exists to suggest that several gospel artistes have been exploited through unfair contractual agreements, hidden royalty earnings and financial manipulation under Eezee Tee’s leadership.

The accusations have ignited fierce debates across social media, with critics questioning the business practices behind some of the country’s most successful gospel hits. Wazobia’s comments, delivered in his characteristically forthright manner, have not only drawn attention to alleged irregularities in royalty disbursements but have also cast a shadow over the integrity of the industry.

Adding further fuel to the controversy, comedian Deeone has alleged that VDM is colluding with Eezee Tee. Deeone claims that VDM is allegedly receiving money to criticise gospel star Mercy Chinwo—a star who had a well-documented association with Eezee Tee before departing from his record label.

These fresh allegations have only deepened suspicions surrounding the executive’s dealings, although neither Eezee Tee nor VDM has yet publicly addressed the claims.

Industry insiders caution that while the allegations are serious, they remain unverified and should be treated as such until a thorough investigation is conducted. Both critics and supporters of the gospel music sector have called for greater transparency and accountability, emphasising the need for fair business practices that safeguard the interests of artistes.

As the debate continues, observers note that further details may emerge, potentially reshaping the contours of an issue that could have far-reaching implications for the Nigerian music industry.
