Prior to the release of his latest project, titled Sui Generis, an extended playlist (EP), singer, rapper, songwriter, and actor, Remilekun Khalid Safaru, well known as Reminisce or Alaga Ibile, as he is fondly called, released singles Up As Fxck featuring Badboy Timz and Kupe the album’s opening track, which is an effortless display of his abilities with visuals.

In the ‘Aktivated Session’ video, the Ajilete, Yewa South LGA indigene, delivers a powerful performance, rapping about his determination and unwavering commitment to his music. With lyrics that exude confidence and resilience, he asserts his presence in the industry and dismisses distractions.

The new EP follows his 2023 album Alaye Toh Se Gogo VOL. 1, which had guest appearances from Olamide Baddoo, Mayorkun, BNXN, Oxlade, Dremo, Odumodublvck, and the late Mohbad. The seven track Sui Generis is buoyed with guest appearances from street pop star Bhadboi OML, popular rapper Vector Tha Viper, and emerging stars Logos Olori, Easyscope, and Bardbanks.

Sui Generis is Reminisce’s seventh project in a career that has spanned nearly two decades during which time he has reinforced himself as one of Nigeria’s most iconic rappers.

He made a name for himself as one of the prominent figures who popularised indigenous hip hop in Nigeria with his hit record Local Rappers featuring Olamide and Phyno sound tracking the domination of indigenous rappers.

Over the years, the Baba Hafusa (third album – 2015) hitmaker has delivered notable hit records, a trend he continued with Hustle featuring BNXN and D Smoke in his last album. His fourth studio album El-Hadj was released on August 29, 2016. He became the first hip hop artiste in Africa to have two albums debut on Billboard Charts World Music category at No. 13.

In addition to his music, Reminisce has ventured into acting, making his debut in 2018, in the critically acclaimed film, King of Boys, directed by Kemi Adetiba. His performance as Makanaki, a street-smart gang leader, was widely praised and added another layer to his artistic portfolio. He made reappearance in the sequel, King of Boys; Return of the King in 2021.
