Reminisce drops visuals for latest hit song, Oja

Following a brief hiatus from the music scene, rapper and self-proclaimed Alaga Ibile, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, better known as Reminisce, has dropped the visuals for his latest single, Oja.

Following a brief hiatus from the music scene, rapper and self-proclaimed Alaga Ibile, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, better known as Reminisce, has dropped the visuals for his latest single, Oja.

Directed by TG Omori and produced by Sarz, the new hit sees the 38-year-old Afrobeat star deftly dishing out his lines in a manner that readily tells fans he still has the sparks raging in him. Shot in one of Lagos’ beautiful beaches, the video the video and its lyrics portray the Ajilete in Ogun State born singer as a man of luxury, who has set himself apart, mean business and shy away from the rampage embarked on by his peers.

The video also showcases his unique side, as he shows viewers the other side of his fashion style, which is considered to be a dope. The sound is best suits the latest trending ‘Zanku’ dance moves.His first album, Book Of Rap Stories, a 13-track project was released March 31, 2012. He started recording the album in 2010, after linking up with the studio producer, Sarz at Edge Records Studios. He went on to release the track Kako Bii Chicken, a commercial song that is recognized as the breakout single. After this, other songs like If Only, 2mussh were released.

The second album, Alaga Ibile, was released November 15, 2013, featuring acts like Wizkid, Naeto C, Davido, Olamide and Sossick. It was an instant breakthrough album, with hit singles like Eleniyan, featuring Wizkid, Fela Daddy featuring Davido, Fantasi and 3rd World Thug.

The album sold an estimated million copies before the end of 2014. In 2014, Time Magazine named Reminisce as one of seven ‘world rappers you should meet’.Reminisce’s third album, Baba Hafusa, was released in 2015. The project broke barriers and charted unknown territories, as the rapper has gone on to become the only hip hop artiste in all of Africa to have an album debut on Billboard Charts World Music category at No. 12.

With over 500,000 copies sold in Nigeria in two weeks and the album claiming the number one spot in iTunes for more than a week, The Baba Hafusa album is considered one of the most successful hip hop albums in Nigerian history.
