Roc Nation hails Ayra Starr’s trailblazing BET Awards victory

Frontline record label, Roc Nation, owned by American music star and businessman, Shawn Corey Carter, well known as Jay-Z, has congratulated Nigerian global superstar, Sarah Oyinkansola Aderibigbe known professionally as Ayra Starr for winning her first BET Award.
  
Starr who was one of the standout names at this year’s ceremony, held on Monday, June 9, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, and led the Nigerian nominees list with three nominations, clinched the coveted ‘Best International Act’ award, beating a competitive lineup that included her Mavin Records label mate, Rema.
  
The victory makes the 19 and Dangerous hitmaker with tracks like Rush, Commas, the second Nigerian female artiste to win the award, following in the footsteps of Tems. She now joins the prestigious list of Nigerian stars who have previously won BET Awards, including 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.
