TG Omori beats the odds, returns to set after kidney transplant

As a testament to his resilience and determination, acclaimed music video director, ThankGod Omori Henry, popularly known as TG Omori has made a triumphant return to the video shooting set, just months after undergoing a failed kidney transplant.
In a post via his X page on Tuesday, February 18, the talented director, known for his innovative storytelling and visuals shared a photo of himself on a music video set while holding his camera. The 29-year-old cinematographer last year, August, revealed that he had a kidney transplant at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos. He added that his only brother donated his kidney for the transplant.
Omori, who battled the health challenge for one year, said he went into the theatre three times for a transplant which was not successful. While calling for prayers from Nigerians, revealed that he was recovering and determined to overcome his health challenges.
The health challenge had sidelined him, leaving fans and colleagues worried about his well-being. His return to the video set is a welcome development for the music industry, which has missed his unique touch.
Born in Cross-River state, Omori grew up in the Agungi area of Lagos state. He started his career at age 20 after graduating from PEFTI Film Institute. In 2019, TG Omori was responsible for around half of the videos on the charts countdown on MTV, Soundcity, and Trace.
He has directed music videos for numerous musicians including the controversial song by Naira Marley Am I a Yahoo Boy, Totori by Olamide and Wizkid, and Soapy by Naira Marley which won Viewers’ Choice at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
