Nigerian music icon Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid has once again proven why he remains a central force in the global music landscape. The Grammy Award-winning singer added another high-profile collaboration to his 2026 repertoire, featuring on the British singer and songwriter, Jorja Alice Smith’s lead single Alive, a track from her highly anticipated third studio album, What Are the Odds.

The track, which dropped on Thursday, July 2, highlights the seamless chemistry between the two artistes. Recorded in London with the acclaimed producer P2J — a frequent collaborator for both musicians — Alive blends elements of Afro-fusion, U.K. garage, and house.

For Smith, the collaboration was a natural fit. “I’ve always loved Wizkid’s music and the way he’s opened so many doors for Afrobeats around the world. It feels really special and a big honour to have a song with him,” she shared in a recent statement.

The pairing has generated significant excitement among fans, with many eager to hear the chemistry between the two artistes. Both have earned praise for blending R&B, soul and Afrobeats influences, making the collaboration one of the week’s most anticipated releases.

Also, the award-winning Essence hitmaker continues his prolific 2026 run with another feature release titled Coca Body, on Friday, July 3, following his collaboration with Dutch rapper cum singer Francis Edusei, known professionally as Frenna, and British-Nigerian singer Hillary Dennis Udanoh, known professionally as Odeal.

The collaboration, which was released at midnight on Friday, July 3, brings together the three artistes known for effortlessly blending Afrobeats, R&B and hip-hop. The new releases add to what has already been an active stretch for the Afrobeats superstar, whose influence on the genre remains unmatched more than a decade into his career.

They arrive at a moment when Wizkid continues to balance solo output with high-profile collaborations, having worked across genres and generations of artistes throughout his career.. Known for reinventing his sound with each project, the Holla at Your Boy crooner has built a reputation for surprising listeners rather than repeating past formulas.
