Omaraye returns with ride sharing app, de- westwind Nigeria
After many years in the USA where he has established himself as a successful businessman, Founder De-WestWind USA, Jim Omaraye is back in the country with a business idea with which he intends to give back to the society. Already, the filmmaker has set up a ride sharing app/delivery service christened De-West Wind Nigeria, a subsidiary of De-WestWind, California, USA.
Speaking of opportunities De-WestWind is offering Nigerians, he said that those, who own a vehicle and want to drive, are welcome on the platform. “Drivers looking for a car to drive or car owners, who want to put up their cars for rent are also welcome. Also, those who have motorbikes with service careers at the back are also welcome. Want to hook up with De-WestWinds? Just go to google play or Apple App store and download De-WestWind app and the rest is history.”
Omaraye disclosed that currently, De-WestWind is active in Edo, Oyo, Enugu, Delta Rivers States and FCT, Abuja, and is giving a whopping 90 per cent commission to drivers.
Meanwhile, Omaraye has opened up on how he discovered popular actress and mother of twins, Funke Akindele, adding that he met the actress who would go on to dominate and shape the industry and comedy world with her TV series, Jenifa, as an aspiring talent bubbling with energy and ideas.“I have always been a pioneer at whatever I do. Back in the early 2000s, I produced Nigeria’s first ever-educational Nollywood movie entitled, The Secret of Success. Before production, I had seen some of Funke Akindele’s works and instantly I saw her talent shining through. My gut instinct told me I had to work with her. I felt she fitted the lead role of the movie which was sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc.”
He informed that he eventually got in touch with Mikel Parish, a versatile Nollywood personality, who would later found the Nollywood Travel Festival and African Film Consortiun, who flew to Lagos and contacted Funke Akindele for the job. “The Secret of Success eventually emerged a big success with Funke Akindele as lead,” he noted.
