UI Releases Post UTME Results, Awards Scholarship to Top Five
THE University of Ibadan (UI) has released the results of its Post UTME screening test barely 72 hours after it conducted the test.
According to the school authority out of the 19,268 candidates that sat for the test 8,992 candidates (46.7 %) scored above 50 per cent.
Disclosing this to the press at the school’s Senate Chamber, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Emilolorun Ayelari, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Isaac Adewole, disclosed that 20,800 candidates applied to the school, but only 19,268 participated in the test. He explained that out of the 8,992 applicants that scored above 50, a benchmark set by the university for admission, only 3,700 candidates would be admitted, being the university admission quota for the 2015/2016 academic year.
Meanwhile, the five top scorers, three males and two females, who are Adetunji AbdulRaham (86 per cent for law), Amaji Obinna Charles (86 per cent for medicine and surgery), Adebiyi Tijesunimi, (85 per cent for electrical and electronics engineering), Oke Dorcas Odunayo (83 per cent in medicine and surgery), Olowosulu Cassandra Olawumi (83 per cent for medicine and surgery) have been awarded automatic scholarship by the institution.
The DVC appealed to parents and guardians not to pressurize members of the university community for admission, adding that the school goes for the best candidates.
“Candidates that score 200 and above are invited for this exercise and that means we have 23,200 that scored over 200 in the UTME this year with 20,800 applying for UI post UTME exercise, 19,260 candidates eventually participated in the two-day exercise.
