For members of Kaduna Golf Club, it is time to count their blessings. Founded in 1921, the club is set to roll out the drums in celebration of the strides it has made over the years.

And so, from December 13 to 18, it will throw open its doors to friends and well wishers, as it reminisces on the great moments that have made the club one of the biggest in the country.

According to Kaduna Golf Club Captain, Ibrahim Aminu Bagudu, the 100 years will be celebrated with various activities for the pleasure of the club’s over 1,000 members and other golfers across the nation.

Among activities lined up for the centenary celebration are a Pro-Am tourney and a golf clinic for both young and elderly, as well as a cultural night, which will be rounded off by a grand dinner and award night.

“The atmosphere is indeed charged,’’ an elated Bagudu disclosed.

“I can tell you that our action Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who is also the grand patron of the club, is quite delighted that the Kaduna Golf Club remains the pride of the north by still remaining formidable after 100 years of existence and he is looking forward for the celebrations.”

The captain took time off to eulogise the sustainability spirit of the club’s board of trustees, which include the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Mallam Zubair Maigwari II, Col. Umar Dangiwa (Rtd), Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd), Arch. Muhammed Dewu, Andy Yakubu and Prof. Shehu Abdullahi.

He said the members of the BOT have done so well to keep club members intact through the bad and good times, adding, “They contribute in no small measure to our strength in running affairs of the club in these past 100 years.”

He listed the sponsors of the centenary celebration to include the Kaduna State government, Sahara Energy, First Bank Plc, Access Bank, Leadway Assurance and Hydrodive Nig. Ltd, as well as several individuals, corporate organizations and state governments.
