18 schools chase glory as Private Schools Games begins in Lagos

The second edition of the Private Schools Games began in Lagos yesterday 18 secondary schools contesting for laurels in athletics, basketball, football and tennis.

The second edition of the Private Schools Games began in Lagos yesterday 18 secondary schools contesting for laurels in athletics, basketball, football and tennis.

The competition kicked off yesterday with football opening proceedings at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The organisers explained yesterday that they are using the games to foster friendship and promote healthy competition among schools in and around Lagos State.

Chief Executive Officer of Private Schools Games, Adeyemi Egbeoluwa said the target was to create sporting and friendly platforms for private schools, while applauding the management of the National Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos for allowing thousands of students and officials have memorable games at the arena.

“We at the Private Schools Games are encouraged getting good facilities at the National Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium. The students are excited about the games and many talents are being discovered.

“We’re monitoring closely with intent of taking the talented ones to the next level in conjunction with their schools and parents. We are eternally grateful to our sponsors like Nestle Milo, Coldstones Creamery and Aptech Computers,” he said.
