After their 2-1 win over visiting Madagascar in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, the Super Eagles, yesterday, arrived in Bissau, yesterday, determined to beat the Wild Dogs to the three points in tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The encounter is billed for the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro.

The team, which returned to training on Saturday, had their last training at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, yesterday morning. It was a closed session, as fans and journalists were barred from the training.

Thereafter, the Super Eagles moved to the airport at 2.00 p.m., and departed for Bissau at 3.00 p.m. for the three-hour, 15 minutes flight.

Guinea-Bissau is leading Group L table on goal difference following their 2-0 victory over Tanzania, where the duo of Franculino Djú and Mama Baldé scored in the 33th and 58th minutes in their qualifiers last week.

The coach Eric Chelle-led Super Eagles began their 2027 AFCON qualifiers with a slim 2-1 victory over visiting Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, coming from a goal down to secure the victory.

Debutants, George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor’s goals cancelled out Madagascar’s first half strike to ignite a win for Nigeria after Ehsan Kari put Madagascar ahead in the 16th minute with a free header which followed a quick corner kick setup.

On arrival in Bissau, yesterday, the Super Eagles said that they came to secure the three points against Guinea-Bissau.

n the other hand, the hosts have vowed to clip the Eagles wings in front of their fans.

Ahead of the game, coach Chelle hinted that there might be a change from the tactics the team deployed against Madagascar, since their opponents are different and operate differently.

“No, we have to analyse the game against Madagascar, see what we did, and then look ahead to our second game in Guinea-Bissau,” Chelle said after the Madagascar match.

“They are a different team; they have their strengths and weaknesses. I have to think about what we will do in Guinea-Bissau. I can’t reveal what system we will use. We have to prepare our minds for the game.”

Madagascar will host Tanzania in the other Group L fixture tomorrow.
