AFCON 2023: Weather in Côte d’Ivoire is hot, Moffi laments
Ahead of Thursday’s Group A AFCON 2023 clash with hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has described the weather in the country as quite hot.
Moffi got a late call up to the Super Eagles team following injury to Victor Boniface.
The OGC Nice player arrived camp on Monday thereby missed the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea which was played a day earlier.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s fixture with Côte d’Ivoire, Moffi praised the city which the Eagles are based but expressed reservations about the weather.
“The city has been nice but the weather is quite hot and coming from Europe where it’s winter and down to Abidjan.”
He, however, stated that he and his teammates are up to the task.
“But we are ready for this, this is part of football we grew up in Nigeria where it’s hot as well so we have no complaints.”
A win for Côte d’Ivoire against the Eagles will seal qualification into the round of 16.
The Ivorians opened their campaign with a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.
