Agbu Kefas hailed for signing Taraba sports commission bill

The Chairman of the Taraba State Sports Council, Barrister Jime Yongo, has applauded the Taraba State House of Assembly and Governor Agbu Kefas for passing and signing into law the Sports Commission Bill.

The bill, which was unanimously supported by all members of the House, was recently signed into law by the governor.

In an exclusive interview with media organisations on Thursday in Asaba, Delta state, Yongo commended Governor Kefas for the opportunity to serve in the sports council, noting his commitment to the growth of sports in the state.

“I am always ready to give my all to the development of sports in Taraba State,” he said, adding that he is proud to work under the leadership of the governor,” he said.

Reflecting on recent developments, Yongo highlighted his participation in national sporting events such as the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, as signs of progress and renewed energy in Taraba’s sports sector.

He further emphasised the importance of collaboration in developing sports, noting that the responsibility should not rest solely on the government.

He called on non-governmental organisations and private sector partners to support and sponsor sporting activities across the state.

Barrister Yongo reaffirmed the council’s commitment to advancing sports in Taraba and encouraged ongoing stakeholder engagement to harness the full potential of the state’s youth through sports.
