Some of the best players in the country have assembled at the Ikoyi Club 1938 to vie for honours in the 2026 Arco Table Tennis Tournament.

To participate in the tournament holding at the club’s table tennis section, the players are expected to meet some tough conditions listed by the organisers.

The tournament, the first in 2026, started on February 2, and will end on February 6.

Captain of the Table Tennis section, Okechi Ugoji, told The Guardian that any player who fails to show up for matches at 6:00 p.m. will face automatic walkover after a 30-minute grace (6:30 pm).

“This will be done at the Captain’s discretion, and they are parts of the match protocol we are adopting in this year’s ARCO tennis tournament,” he stated.

According to him, the tournament is being played on the Best of Five games format.

On Monday, the opening day, the players battled in the Championship, Veterans and Premiership categories, while yesterday was the turn of players in the Doubles, knockouts and semifinals in the Ladies and Septua categories.

The Captain said that the knockouts and finals (Septua and Veterans) will hold today, while Friday February 6 has been set aside for the doubles final, ladies final, championship final and premiership final.

“The Doubles is open for players to partner with anyone they like, including the ladies,” Ugoji stated.
