Ardova Handball: Premier League, Kano Pillars resurgence continues
Champions Kano Pillars’ continued their resurgence by beating Edo Dynamos 37-30 in the Ardova Handball Premier League currently going on in Lagos.
Pillars’ seemed to have lost their form in the the league but have picked up wins to better their standing in the table.
Kano Pillars approach in Monday’s game was direct and they took their chances to record the win. Pillars’ coach, Solomon Yola said the win would assist their chances of finishing in the first three position at the end of the league on Saturday.
He said: “It has been difficult because we threw away game that we should have won. Monday’s win is a good one for us and it will help push us up the table.
“We are also in the middle of rebuilding the team but that is not the reason we lost our way early in the season. Our desire is to win every game we play but things have not gone our way this season,” he added.
In the female category, Plateau Peacocks defeated Rima Queens 20-14. The match was intense and close but it was the Peacocks who took advantage of the chances they had.
In another game, Bayelsa Queens lost to Seasider Babes of Lagos 30-35. The Lagos team was the better side but it faced stiff opposition from the Yenegoa side. However, the Lagos girls did enough to win the encounter.
Table-topping Safety Babes also beat Imo Grasshoppers 31-24. Safety Babes are yet to lose a games, winning 14 and drawing one. In another game, Benue Queens lost to Defender Babes 19-34.
Also, Confluence Stars defeated Correction Boys 28-23.
