National Sports Festival: S’ South zonal elimination begins in Benin

Defending champion of the National Sports Festival, Team Delta, and other states in the South-South region have started the zonal elimination for ball games in Benin, Edo State capital.
Ogun State will host the National Sports Festival later this year.
Director General of Delta Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero, told The Guardian, yesterday that Team Delta is campaigning in all eight team sports at the elimination holding at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
“We are contesting in all the team sports in both male and female categories,” Ohwojero said. “These include cricket, handball, volleyball, hockey, basketball, Abula, beach volleyball and football.”
Meanwhile, the South-South Zonal Coordinator, Mr Njoku Peters, has commended the Edo State government as well as the executive chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele, for the prompt response to the hosting of the games in Benin city.
Njoku said that Edo State’s magnanimity is a demonstration of the heartbeat state’s leadership in sports development.
Njoku spoke on behalf of the participating states after some technical meetings at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
