Samuel Ogazi joins Amusan, Brume, Ofili, others in World Athletics testing pool

Paris 2024 Olympics 400m finalist, Samuel Ogazi, has been added to the World Athletics testing pool following the latest update by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) .

The 18-year-old Ogazi distinguished himself at the Paris Olympics, running inside 45 second thrice to reach the final on his first attempt at the greatest sporting fiesta in the world.

Ogazi, who is the reigning African U-18 200m and 400m champion, thus, proved himself as one of the athletes at the highest level of the sport of track and field.

According to SportsNow.com, Ogazi, who is also the Nigeria U-20 400m record holder at 44.41secs is now one of the nine Nigerian athletes who are considered to be at the highest level of athletics.

Others who are on the updated testing pool include reigning Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles champion and world record holder, Tobi Amusan and three-time Olympics long jump medalist, Ese Brume.

Also on the updated list are Shot Putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, the second fastest Nigerian woman ever over the 100m, Rosemary Chukwuma, former world U20 champion, Udodi Onwuzurike, Olympics 200m finalist, Favour Ofili, long jumper Ruth Usoro and Nigeria 400m hurdles record holder, Ezekiel Nathaniel.

The nine Nigerian athletes on the Registered International Testing Pool are thus required to provide whereabouts information to the AIU and the information will be used by Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) to locate athletes for effective out of competition doping control.

The AIU will be primarily responsible for testing the nine Nigerians on its testing pool list, while the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), will be responsible for testing others who should be on its testing pool.
