Boniface eyes fifth consecutive Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has once again been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award.
Boniface was announced as one of the three nominees on the Bundesliga website.
The Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen star was nominated alongside Freiburg’s Merlin Röhl and Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig for the December award.
The former Union Saint Gilloise striker has so far picked up the Rookie award for August, September, October and November this season.
In December, he scored three goals and made two assists to help Bayer Leverkusen maintain their unbeaten run in all competitions this season.
He was included in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man list for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
Unfortunately, he got injured in the team’s training camp in Abu Dhabi and has been replaced by Terem Moffi.
Leverkusen in a statement said the striker will now be out till April.
As well as the fans (40%), Bundesliga clubs (30%) and a panel of Bundesliga experts (30%) are part of the voting process for the Rookie of the Month award.
