
Edo Queens, yesterday, proved that their group stage 2-1 defeat of Remo Stars Ladies was no fluke, when they defeated the Ikenne-based side 3-1 in one of the semifinals of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT).
Playing at the Western Boys Mini Stadium, Benin City, Edo Queens scored two goals in the first half through Osigwe Goodness, with Suliat Abideen’s lone strike completing the rout in the second half.
Edo Queens will now meet Bayelsa Queens in tomorrow’s final game at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin. To qualify for the final, Bayelsa Queens defeated Delta Queens 5-4 via a penalty shoot out in the second semifinal at the UNIBEN Sports Complex.
The game ended 3-3 in regular time, but Bayelsa Queens were the better markswomen in the penalty shoot as they scored all their five kicks, while Delta Queens lost one of theirs.
Before the final game, Remo Stars Ladies will meet Delta Queens in the third place game same day at the UNIBEN Sports Complex.
