Vivek Chandwani and Iwinosa Edo-Osagie have qualified to represent Nigeria at the world finals of the Duke of Edinburgh Cup billed to hold in Windsor, the United Kingdom in October.

The duo picked the ticket to represent the country through their performance at the Nigerian leg of the maiden edition of the Duke of Edinburgh Cup, a charity tournament dedicated to the cause of the less privileged all over the world. In a thrilling contest held at golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938 at the weekend, Chandwani won the top prize with a gross of 36-stableford point, beating Edo-Osagie, who also shot 36-stableford points on countback to the second position.

Also speaking at the event, Chairman, International Award for Young People in Nigeria, Wale Edun said the success of the maiden DofE would help attract the world’s attention to the plight of young people in Nigeria.

While urging those in need not to give up in the face of challenges they face in Nigeria, a representative of the organisers of the event, Ibukun Obatoyinbo said being focused in life in spite of challenges has good rewards. She added that plans were also on to move the competition across the country.

NNPC/Eroton E&P JV, Rite Foods (Bigi brands), Stanbic IBTC, Niger Delta E&P, Megamound Properties Group, Mercure Moorehouse Hotel, Ikoyi, and Lufthansa City Centre/Tifa Travels were some of the events sponsors. DofE in Nigeria is referred to as International Award for Young People.
