Chelsea’s Diego Costa could be in line for a return to former club Atletico Madrid, after President Enrique Cerezo admitted his interest in the striker.

The 27-year-old, who endured a disappointing campaign with the Blues last season, joined the London club after helping Atletico Madrid secure the Spanish league title in 2014.

Despite Atléti’s President expressed interest in the Brazilian-born, it is believed that new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will not let him without another top class striker coming in to complement new addition Michy Batshuayi.

“We are looking for a new striker, and we always like to get the biggest players we can,” Cerezo told Spanish newspaper Diario AS.

“Costa played for us for a few years and he’s a great player, no one can deny that. I don’t know if Costa has spoken to Conte, but we’re working to hard bring the best players to Atléti.”

Brazil-born Costa scored just 12 goals in 28 appearances during last season, as Chelsea struggled to a disappointing 10th place in the Premier League.
