Congregation unseats Bursary at ISL’s 28th school sports meet

Congregation (Purple House) deposed Bursary (White House) to win the 28th Inter-House Athletics Competition International School University of Lagos (ISL) held at the Sports Centre, University of Lagos.

Congregation (Purple House) deposed Bursary (White House) to win the 28th Inter-House Athletics Competition International School University of Lagos (ISL) held at the Sports Centre, University of Lagos.

The House garnered 11 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals to come tops, as (Green House) came second with 10 gold, eight, and six bronze medals.

Chancellery (Yellow House) came third with eight gold, three and four bronze medals while the defending champion, Bursary, placed fourth with six gold, three silver and 13 bronze medals.

Registry (Red House) came fifth with four gold, 12 silver and four bronze medals, however, Senate (Blue) placed sixth on the log after registering two gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.

In the march past, Chancellery came tops, while the schools’ invitational relays in the boys and girls’ categories were won by the Kings and Queens colleges respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, the school’s Principal, M.B. Malik, “When a child shows skills in sports, we should encourage such a child water the skill, nurture it and help the child to grow in it. Look at Neymar today, look at Messi, Usain Bolt, they are all sportsmen making waves. It is not all about the classroom,” he said.

In the words of the Chairman of occasion, Otunba Kolayusuf Olokodana, the occasion was very beautiful and everything went fine. “My advice to the parents is to allow their children participate in sports. Exercising one’s body regularly drives away sickness and makes them strong always.”

The Chief Guest of Honour, Prof. W.A. Makanjuola also described the occasion as an opportunity for the students to unwind, interact, and compete with one another.
