
Youth and Sports Development Minister, Solomon Selcap Dalung has congratulated the newly-elected board of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria (PCN) for their victory at the recent election held in Lagos.
Speaking at the just concluded 2019 Lagos International Para-powerlifting Invitational Competition in Lagos, the minister also charged the Major General Emico Eruwa-led PCN board to improve on the legacy inherited from their predecessor.
He assured them of the Federal Government’s commitment towards creating enabling environment for sporting federations to thrive in the country and also enable athletes to attain their potential.
“I want to assure that the Federal Government is committed to creating enabling environment for Sporting federations to thrive so that our athletes can attain their maximum potentials.’’
Meanwhile, the PCN board promised to radically change the nation’s Paralympic sports for better performance.
PCN president, Brigadier-General Emico Eruwa reaffirmed the board’s commitment to the sport at the official handover ceremony from the former executive led by Monday Emoghavwe at the PCN office, National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
While commending the former board for doing a good job, Eruwa, who is also president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, said: “Right from the election of January 15, the PCN has been strategising on how Para sports could record radical progress in both local and international meets.
“We are seeking the cooperation of the government, corporate groups and the media towards realising the set targets.”
