Team arrives Agege Stadium to battle Dream Stars tomorrow
Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has charged the state’s female football team, Edo Queens to be good ambassadors of the state, as they engage their Lagos counterparts, Dream Stars at the Agege Stadium tomorrow in their first away women football league game.

Addressing the team in Benin, Shaibu said Governor Obaseki and his entire crew were looking up to the girls to do the state proud, adding that the only way to make government happy is to be good ambassadors of the state by making sure that the 2018/2019 Nigeria Women Football League title came to Edo State.

“We are very proud of you girls, and we are also very confident that you will do the state proud by winning the female league title for us. You are all witnesses to the fact that this present governor has invested so much in sports development in the state.

“I want to assure you all that this government will continue to give sports development a top most priority, so as long as you do the right thing, you will continue to get our support. As a sportsman, I know what it takes to make players happy, all that is expected of you, as players, is play your own part and leave the rest for us.

“I am also very confident that your coaches will deliver because they are people that have been tested and trusted in the round leather game. We are very happy that the long awaited female league is starting this Wednesday, and you have your first away game in Lagos, which is our second home.

“You must, therefore, do everything within your capability to ensure victory in that first crucial encounter. All you need do is try as much as possible to do very well in all your away games, then come home to seal it up. I want to reiterate again that Mr. Governor and his entire crew are behind you,” Shaibu said.
