All roads will lead to Enugu State on May 3, 2025, as more than 100 international athletes are expected to arrive in Coal City for the inaugural edition of the Enugu City International Marathon.

History is set to be made as elite runners from across the globe, along with Nigeria’s top athletes, will take to the streets of Enugu in what is anticipated to be the biggest road race in the history of Southeastern Nigeria.

Organisers of the race, Nilayo Sports Management Company, said the Enugu state Government is determined to make the race a significant sporting calendar in the history of the state by organising a race of global standard.

In a statement, the Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah said: “We want to use this race to tell our own unique story and showcase Enugu as a tourist and commerce destination in the South East.

“We are really looking forward to this race and we are very prepared to welcome all the international athletes and local athletes to our state and showcase our beautiful city and way of life to the rest of the World.”

Organisers of the race, Nilayo Sports Management Company, having organised several International road races across the country especially the highly prestigious Access bank Lagos City marathon, has promised nothing short of a world class event when the race holds on May 3rd 2025.

The Government of Enugu State has however made the event more than a race but a complete sporting entertainment where there will be musical display from one of Nigeria’s top A list Artiste, Kcee.
