Premier League club Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over a season-long loan for their Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

The two clubs are in discussions for both Osimhen and Belgian star Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to head to the former Italian champions.

Chelsea want to get Lukaku off their books after making him available for transfer but have yet to find a club that are willing to match their £37million asking price.

Napoli are the most interested in the former Manchester United striker who could reunite with Antonio Conte.

The two helped Inter Milan to Serie A glory in 2021 and Conte has made him his top target but it will depend on whether or not Osimhen departs. Lukaku has already agreed a pay cut and a three-year contract to move to Naples.

Chelsea are in the market for a striker but have no intention in paying Osimhen’s release clause, which reportedly stands at £110m.

As of Tuesday morning, the two clubs are in talks over a loan deal that includes an option to buy.

Napoli would prefer any loan with option to have an obligation that could be triggered in addition, based on Chelsea qualification for the Champions League.

Osimhen has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea and has previously hinted that he would be interested on a deal.

The 25-year-old helped Napoli to Serie A glory in 2023 with 26 goals in 32 league appearances, their first since the 1989/90 season.

Last season, the reigning CAF Player of the Year had a tougher campaign but still managed 17 goals in all competitions.
