The English Football Association has announced the squads for the opening international fixtures of the 2025–26 season, with seventeen players of Nigerian heritage receiving call-ups across various youth levels.
Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri and Chelsea forward Tyrique George have been named in the England U21 squad for a European Championship qualifier against Kazakhstan.
Nwaneri was a member of the England team that secured the European U21 Championship in June, while George, having previously represented the country from the U16 to U19 levels, is seeking his U21 debut.
At the U20 level, head coach Ben Futcher’s squad for a friendly against Italy includes four players of Nigerian descent: Crystal Palace defender Eyimofe Jemide, Rangers fullback Jayden Meghoma, Aston Villa midfielder Jamaldeen Jimoh, and Manchester City forward Justin Oboavwoduo.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Callum Olusesi has been selected for the U19 squad’s training camp in Spain. The team is scheduled to compete against Ukraine, Spain, and the Netherlands at the Pinatar Arena.
