Ikorodu City FC tops NPFL as Ladega lauds Oga Boys

Ikorodu City FC, the only Lagos-based club in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPL), maintained its position at the top of the table following an exhilarating 1–1 draw against Bayelsa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The match, attended by Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, highlighted the Oga Boys’ trademark resilience, discipline, and fighting spirit. Their consistent top-table form has been credited to teamwork, dedication, and growing support from fans and the local community.

In a statement signed by Akeem Mustapha, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, he said, “The Oga Boys’ performance reflects their hard work and unity. This club represents more than football — it embodies the pride, passion, and promise of Ikorodu.”

Hon. Ladega was warmly welcomed by the club’s chairman, Sanmi Doherty, whose leadership has been pivotal in steering the team toward excellence. “Through his presence, the Executive Chairman sent a clear message to the players, coaching staff, and supporters: Ikorodu stands behind you. The journey of the Oga Boys is a journey for the entire community — one of leadership, resilience, and pursuit of greatness,” the statement added.

The draw ensures remains atop the NPL, reinforcing its status as Lagos’ premier professional football club and setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.
