Lobi Stars’ Oko Stanley joins Beninese side AS Police
AS Police of Benin Republic have completed the signing of Nigerian defensive midfielder Oko Onyedika Stanley. The 23-year-old officially joined the Beninese top-flight side today, 3 February 2024, departing Nigerian club Lobi Stars to begin a new chapter in his professional football career.
Born on 14 February 2000, Stanley brings a wealth of experience, having played in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and internationally. His professional journey began at SC Majestic of Burkina Faso, where he played during the 2019/2020 season from July 2019 to January 2020. He then returned to Nigeria, signing with El-Kanemi Warriors in May 2020 and remaining there until June 2022.
In August 2022, Stanley joined Lobi Stars, where he was a key player throughout the 2022/2023 season and the first half of the 2023/2024 campaign before his departure in December 2023. His transfer to AS Police marks an important step in his career as he seeks to make a mark in the Benin Republic league.
Renowned for his tireless work ethic and defensive prowess, Stanley excels at breaking down opposition plays and recovering possession, skills that make him a valuable addition to AS Police’s midfield. His ability to shield the defence and disrupt attacking moves will be crucial as the team eyes success in the second half of the season.
