.Sesko seals late win for Man United
Manchester City’s Premier League title challenge suffered another blow on Sunday as Dominic Solanke’s spectacular second-half brace rescued a 2-2 draw for Tottenham, while Benjamin Sesko’s late strike secured a dramatic 3-2 victory for Manchester United over Fulham.
City appeared on course for victory after dominating the first half and opening a 2-0 lead, a result that would have deepened the pressure on Spurs manager Thomas Frank. Instead, Solanke turned the contest on its head, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side six points behind leaders Arsenal.
Rayan Cherki set the tone early for City and came close to doubling his tally, only to be denied by an outstanding save from Guglielmo Vicario. Antoine Semenyo made it 2-0 before half-time, sparking frustration among the home supporters.
Tottenham emerged with renewed purpose after the interval, and Solanke’s return from injury proved decisive. The England international pulled one back from close range before producing a moment of brilliance, acrobatically hooking the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma with a stunning scorpion kick.
City have now managed just one win in six league matches in 2026, allowing Arsenal to tighten their grip at the top as they chase a first Premier League title in 22 years.
Sesko delivers at Old Trafford
Manchester United continued their revival under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, claiming a third consecutive league win to move back into the top four ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool.
United were in control after goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha on either side of half-time. Fulham responded late, however, as Raul Jimenez converted a penalty five minutes from time before Kevin’s long-range effort appeared to salvage a point.
United struck immediately in response, with Sesko spinning onto a Bruno Fernandes pass and rifling a superb finish into the top corner to spark wild celebrations.
“It’s the best feeling,” Carrick said. “You can analyse performances all you want, but moments like that bring pure excitement and belief.”
Villa falter, Palace held
Third-placed Aston Villa’s title ambitions suffered a setback as they lost 1-0 at home to 10-man Brentford, leaving them seven points off the pace.
Despite Kevin Schade’s dismissal for violent conduct, Brentford snatched the winner through Dango Ouattara in first-half stoppage time. Villa dominated after the break but lacked the invention to break the visitors down, while Tammy Abraham saw a goal ruled out following a VAR review.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace failed to capitalise on a numerical advantage, settling for a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest. Morgan Gibbs-White gave Forest an early lead before Neco Williams’ red card allowed Palace back into the game, Ismaila Sarr converting from the penalty spot.
