Scottish Premiership club Dundee United have signed Nigerian winger Meshack Ubochioma on a two-year deal.

Dundee United announced the signing of Ubochioma in a statement on their website.

“Dundee United are delighted to announce the signing of Meshack Ubochioma from OTP Bank Liga outfit Zalaegerszegi TE on a two-year deal, with a club-held option of an additional year. The move is subject to both international and SFA clearance.

“At age just 17, Ubochioma headed for the French capital to partake in a trial at Paris Saint-Germain, affording him his first taste of an elite-level environment.

“As his Parisian adventure came to a close, another European opportunity arose via a diplomatic partnership between the football associations of Hungary and Nigeria, and newly-promoted Zalaegerszegi TE tabled his first professional contract.

“Immediately after putting pen to paper on the deal, he embarked on a scintillating loan spell with Slovenian second-tier side NK Nafta.“

Formed in 1909, originally as Dundee Hibernian, the club changed to the present name in 1923.

Domestically, Dundee United has won the Scottish Premiership title on one occasion (1982–83), the Scottish Cup twice (1994 and 2010) and the Scottish League Cup twice (1979 and 1980).

The club appeared in European competition for the first time in the 1966–67 season, going on to appear in Europe in 14 successive seasons from 1976. They also reached the European Cup (now UEFA Champions League) semi-finals in 1983–84 and the UEFA Cup final in 1987.

The club contest the Dundee derby with local rivals Dundee.
