NNL draw pits newcomers, Abakaliki FC against Madiba in star match

The star match of the 2024/25 Nigerian National League (NNL) opening weekend is a battle between newcomers, Abakalili FC against Madiba FC at the Abakiliki Township Stadium on November 30.

The draw for the incoming season was held on the sidelines of the ongoing NNL pre-season seminar at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, Ikenne.
The game is one of the matches of opening weekend in Conference A, where Sporting Lagos are on standby, while Solution FC will battle Rovers FC in another testy game.

First Bank of Lagos will host Osun United with Gateway of Abeokuta meeting Godswill Akpabio FC just as Kun Khalifa of Owerri will host Emalex of Owo.

In Southern Conference B, Smart City will be on standby on Day 1, while Edel FC meet Abia Comets, with FC I472 hosting Igbado FC.

In other matches, Beyond FC will host Dakkada, Warri Wolves will square up with Crown FC, while Ijele FC will be at home to Inter Lagos.

In some of the Conference C and D matches, Sokoto FC will host Makantaki Care, Zamfara will play Wikki Tourists, Kebbi United are up against Sporting Supreme while Barau FC will welcome Mighty Jets in Kano.

Speaking on the coming season, NNL chairman, George Aluo, said the innovation in the draw became necessary following discussions with stakeholders of the league.
“We are doing our best to ensure the new season is even better than the last one,” he said.
