No place like home, says Brown Ideye after joining NPFL club, Enyimba
Former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has made a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The 36-year-old was unveiled by nine-time NPFL champions, Enyimba after signing a contract with them for the remainder of the season.
Ideye last played in the NPFL for defunct Ocean Boys in the 2006/07 season. In January 2008 he moved to Europe to sign for Swiss Super League club, Neuchâtel Xamax.
Before this move to Switzerland, he was on trial with Dutch side Willem II, but was not signed. After three years with Xamax, Ideye left to sign for French Ligue 1 club Sochaux.
On July 6, 2011, he signed a five-year deal with Ukrainian side, Dynamo Kyiv and joined English Premier League club, West Bromwich Albion three years later, becoming the club’s record signing at a fee reported as £10 million. In 2015, Ideye joined Olympiacos from West Brom for an undisclosed fee and later left for Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Teda.
He then joined La Liga club, Malaga on loan before moving to Greek side, Aris on a one-year contract in 2019.
Taking to his verified X handle after his unveiling ceremony by Enyimba, Ideye tweeted, “No place like home.
