NPFL restores licenses for Enyimba, six other clubs’ players
Abia Warriors, Katsina, Kwara United’s players still suspended
The Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), yesterday, certified Enyimba Football Club of Aba and six other clubs fit to field their newly acquired players in matches of the 2024/25 season following their compliance with the arbitration decisions of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players Status Committee.
The NFF Players Status Committee suspended Enyimba and nine other clubs from fielding newly transferred players in the 2024/25 season following disputes over the salaries and entitlements of some of their former players and coaches.
The other clubs cleared alongside Enyimba are El-Kanemi Warriors, Plateau United, Bayelsa United, Lobi Stars, Heartland, and Akwa United.
According to the NPFL, Akwa United’s licenses were restored on the directive of the NFF pending ongoing further investigations into their case.
The NPFL said in a letter conveying the development to the clubs, yesterday: “With the development, three other clubs, Abia Warriors, Katsina United, and Kwara United are still not off the hook as they are yet to comply with the ruling on their cases.”
NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, commended the clubs for complying swiftly with the requirements, which will enable them to play to their full strength.
