Paris Saint-Germain survived a rousing fightback from Aston Villa to reach the Champions League semi-finals 5-4 on aggregate despite losing the second leg 3-2 on Tuesday.

Leading 3-1 from last week’s first leg, PSG looked to be cruising when Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes scored inside the opening half-hour at Villa Park.

Villa hit back with goals from Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa but could not find another to force extra time.
