Supercoppa Italiana: Ademola Lookman set for 100th Atalanta appearance
Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman will be setting his sights on recording another milestone of 100 appearances when Atalanta squares up against Inter in Thursday’s night Supercoppa Italiana semi-final clash at Al-Awwal Park in Saudi Arabia.
The former RB Leipzig winger is listed on the 21-man list of players that arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital on New Year’s Eve as Atalanta hopes to continue their fairy-tale run in the new year.
The Super Eagles winger has not won any of his five games against Inter and has one goal and one assist so far.
Lookman has also been named in the controversial Serie A Team of the Year, a reward for his remarkable contributions to Atalanta in 2024.
In 2024, Lookman played a decisive role in leading Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a silver medal at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, where he scored three goals and earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament.
His club achievements were equally impressive, he inspired Atalanta to their first-ever European title with a historic hattrick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
Lookman joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for €9.3 million, and has flourished under the guidance of seasoned manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
Lookman has contributed 44 goals and 24 assists in his 99 appearances across all competitions for the club.
