The United States women’s U-17 team has eliminated Nigeria from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The Americans secured a 2-0 victory over the Flamingos in the quarter-finals.

Goals from Katharine Fuller and Kimball Ascanio sealed the win for the USA, ending Nigeria’s impressive run in the tournament. The Nigerian team had topped their group stage, winning all three matches.

Despite tactical changes made by Nigerian coach Bankole Olowookere, the USA’s dominance proved too much for the Flamingos.

The loss marks a disappointing end to Nigeria’s campaign, as they aimed to repeat their 2022 success against the same opponent.

Despite early substitutions by coach Bankole Olowookere, introducing Blessing Ifitezue and Victory Ekezie, the Flamingos struggled to shift the game’s momentum.

The USA continued to dominate, with coach Natalia Astrain’s tactical changes proving effective. Ascanio’s impact off the bench clinched the win and dashed Nigeria’s hopes of repeating their 2022 triumph, where they had advanced on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
