We expect more magic from Osimhen – Galatasaray coach
Galatasaray coach, Okan Buruk, has said that the club expects more magic from Victor Osimhen when they host Elfsborg in the third game of their UEFA Europa League campaign on Wednesday.
Buruk also praised Osimhen, who shone like a million stars on Saturday, calling the Nigerian a joy to behold and a “very strong player” for his age.
Osimhen, who recently returned from a muscular injury, scored a world-class goal for Galatasaray in their 3-0 win against Antalyaspor during a Turkish Super Lig encounter at the New Antalya Stadium.
He netted a sensational overhead kick that he believes could win the Puskas Award for Goal of the Year. The goal was also rated Goal of the Week in the Turkish Super Lig.
During his post-match press conference with the club’s official website and in the pre-match presser ahead of the Europa League clash against Elfsborg, Coach Buruk lauded Osimhen.
“We always have video calls with the players we plan to add to our squad. The energy you give each other is very important. We also talk to the players he has worked with and the technical staff,” Buruk said regarding Osimhen’s signing.
“The information we received, the meetings I had with him, and my thoughts are now being confirmed. He is a very good professional. He loves Galatasaray very much.
“He was happy when he arrived, and he remains the same now. He is a great figure for the locker room. Despite being just 25 years old, his speech and behaviour are very mature.
“We got both a good person and a great football player. We are very happy to have high-character players join the other high-character players in the team. We are lucky in this sense, and we expect more magic from him.”
Galatasaray midfielder Kerem Demirbay added: “Osimhen is a top-quality player. We are very happy to have him here. We believe he will make a big contribution to us, and he has already done so in a short time.”
Osimhen has scored three goals and provided four assists in just five matches across all competitions for Galatasaray this season.
