Gabon 2017: Zambian Sikazwe to officiate final
Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has been picked to officiate today’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between Cameroon and Egypt, according to supersport.com.
Sikazwe, 37, was nominated for the 2015 CAF Referee of the Year award. During the 2017 AFCON, he officiated Cameroon’s match against Burkina Faso in the group stage, which ended in a 1-1 draw, as well as their quarterfinal clash with Senegal, which saw the Indomitable Lions win 5-4 on penalties.
He was also the referee for the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup final between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers in December, when he was at the centre of controversy, as he appeared to reach into his pocket to book Sergio Ramos for a second time before changing his mind.
