GAH Elite launches tennis tournament to celebrate Princess Oghene’s birthday

GAH Elite has announced the launch of a six-day tennis tournament in honour of Dr. Princess Oghene, founder of GMYT Group Ltd., as part of activities marking her birthday.

According to a statement by Bolatito Adebola, media spokesperson for GAH Elite, the *Elite Women’s and Men’s Doubles Lawn Tennis Tournament* will take place from July 14 to 19 at the Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos.

The event will culminate in a grand finale on July 19, coinciding with Dr. Oghene’s birthday. Organisers say the tournament is designed not only to celebrate her contributions to fashion and entrepreneurship but also to promote sporting excellence and community engagement.

“This is more than just a tournament,” Dr. Oghene said. “It’s a celebration of excellence, legacy, and leadership through sport. With millions invested in this tournament and hundreds of thousands in prizes for our winners, we are setting a new benchmark for sporting events in Africa.”

The event will feature competitive matches in both men’s and women’s doubles categories. In addition to the sporting competition, guests and players will be treated to various experiences, including live brand activations, product showcases, red carpet moments, and editorial features in *GAH Elite Magazine*.

“The Royal Serv is where champions are not just born; they’re celebrated,” Adebola said, noting that the tournament aims to provide professional exposure for participating athletes and brands.

Dr. Oghene, who also founded GMYT Fashion Academy, said the initiative reflects her broader goal of using sports as a platform for leadership development and social connection.

“This six-day tennis event is a celebration of power, grace, and connection,” she said. “It’s about bringing together people from across sectors to engage through sport while building a shared legacy.”

The event is being held in partnership with Ikoyi Club 1938 and is expected to attract players and guests from diverse backgrounds, including business, fashion, and the creative industries.

Organisers say the GAH Elite Tennis Tournament is envisioned as an annual fixture on Nigeria’s sports and lifestyle calendar.
