Glitz, glamour as SV Awards holds in Lagos Friday

The stage is set for another night of glamour and celebration as the 6th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Awards holds on Friday in Lagos.

The event, scheduled for 6pm at the Lagos Country Club, will bring together top figures in Nigerian sports, with Dr. Larry Izamoje, founder of Brila Media Group, serving as Chairman of the occasion.

Already in town for the ceremony are former Sports Minister, Hon. Sunday Dare, now Special Adviser to the President; Dr. Danladi Bako (OON); Dr. Amos Adamu; and Chief Segun Odegbami (MON). Also expected is the Managing Director of LAPO, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe.

Others include the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, who is leading a delegation of NSC officials, as well as the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau. Coach Fanny Amun, NOC scribe Tunde Popoola, and Olympians Prince Henry Amike and Olumide Oyedeji are also expected.

Also on the guest list are former Coca-Cola Nigeria Marketing Director, Idoreyin Enang; HOTSPOT Group President, Taye Ige; Mitchel Obi of MasterSports International; and Lagos Women Run initiator, Tayo Popoola.

Others include SuperSport General Manager, Chief Felix Awogu; Charles Anazodo; Dr. Kweku Tandoh; Efiong Nyong; Lagos All Stars President, Mojeed Adegbindin; and Ayodeji Omotoyinbo.

Former internationals such as Waidi Akanni, Friday Elaho, Wasiu Ipaye, Loveday Omoniyi, and Sarah Igunbor are also among those expected to grace the occasion.

Speaking ahead of the event, Frank Ilaboya, Chief Executive Officer of Sportsville Communication Services Limited, said the award ceremony promises another night of glitz and excellence.

“The annual Sportsville Awards has become a gathering of the crème de la crème of sports personalities in Nigeria, and this year is no different,” Ilaboya said.

“The awards committee, headed by Harry Iwuala, and the organisers have fine-tuned preparations, and we trust God to crown our efforts with success. This is our 6th edition, and we are leveraging past experiences to deliver a ceremony that meets international standards,” he added.

He expressed confidence that the quality of guests in attendance will make the event another memorable celebration of Nigerian sports excellence.
