Govt plans reception for triumphant Edo Queens
The Edo State government has revealed plans to host the state’s female football team, Edo Queens, to a heroic reception after their excellent outing at the NWFL Super Six Playoffs, where they emerged champions of the league and secured a ticket to represent the country at CAF Women Champions League for the first time.
The team will arrive in Benin City today to a rousing welcome amid pump and pageantry, in celebration of their remarkable achievement.
In a statement, the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, said a victory road show has been planned for the triumphant team.
He said: “In celebration of their remarkable achievement, a grand reception and victory road show has been planned for our triumphant team by the State Government.
“The victory roadshow is scheduled to commence at 10 am with the rallying point being Western Boys Secondary School, Benin City. They will proceed on the motorcade through Ring Road and terminate at the Government House, Benin City.”
