To genuinely have a helpmate as a wife is more than a man would ask for. To be blessed with someone who has an invaluable impact on one’s career is far above what one can ask from God.

Dora Olanrewaju Kayode, the first FA licenced female football agent in Nigeria, is the wife of star striker  Olarenwaju Kayode, who she represents as an agent. In 2020, she secured her husband a loan deal from Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk to Sivasspor in Turkey.

Dora Kayode, who is a trained lawyer, attended Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State, before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. She had her secondary education at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Umuahia, Abia State.

Dora Kayode has become the doyen of football agents in Africa, as she has used her vast experience to help her husband, as well as other footballers who barely managed to cope off the pitch because of the encumbrances caused by contractual agreements, and enlighten more African footballers on the nitty-gritty of contractual agreements.

Speaking on her choice of career and what motivated her to study “football rules,” Dora Kayode said that the knowledge has helped her to liberate her husband from the bondage of “slave contracts.”

“As a lawyer, I decided to study the rule of football and combine it with fundamental human rights to ensure that my clients get the better of any contract,” Dora Kayode started.

Speaking further, she said: “I helped free Kayode from the bondage of slave contracts, which remains the problem of most African players. They need people who can tell them the truth and educate them on their rights, and I’m always ready to do this.”

Dora Kayode has proven her mettle as a woman with a difference. She fishes in the same waters as the likes of top football agents Joshua Barnett and Jorge Mendes, to name just a few.

The lawyer, who has three lovely kids, all boys, with her Nigerian international husband, always looks out for the best for her husband; which is why she went through the stringent processes of negotiation and dialogue to get him a loan move away from Shakhtar Donetsk two years ago.

“I have confidence in what my husband can do especially when it comes to this career of his in football. Like the saying that ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going,’ Kayode has what it takes to take Sivasspor to their desired haven this season,” said Dora Kayode.

The football agent has also been busy planning for her husband’s retirement from the game. On behalf of her family, she ventured into real estate as a means to earn a passive income and set aside funds for life after football for Kayode.

Dora Kayode’s areas of focus in real estate include everything from residential properties to real estate investment trusts, to commercial real estate (office buildings, hotels, shopping centres) and conservation lands.
