Umar Sadiq says he cannot just wait to make his debut in the UEFA Champions League in the colours of Real Sociedad even as he recuperates from injury.

Sadiq who moved to Sociedad from UD Almeria last summer in a transfer reportedly worth €20 million demonstrated immense promise right from the outset.

Despite only featuring in five La Liga fixtures, he managed to strike the back of the net three times, signaling his potential as a prolific striker.

However, an unfortunate acute ligament injury halted his progress and forced him to watch from the sidelines for almost the entire 2022/23 campaign.

Sociedad, however, came fourth to qualify for the Champions League. “The season has finished and #wechampionsleaguelikethat,” Sadiq wrote on Instagram.

“It gives me great pride to be part of this team, I’m here for some months but it’s seems like I’m here for lots of years, thank to my team mates for making it easy for me even if it’s not easy.

“Thanks to the medical staff and my coaches for being beside me during my rehab and putting a smile on my face when I was feeling worried.

“That is what makes me understand that LA REAL is a family. Y’all are so special and I hope next year will be more special. See you soon,” the striker wrote.
