‘I still have three, four years to go,’ says Joshua ahead of return

Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua isn’t ready to hang up his gloves just yet, reports talksports.com.

The Nigerian-born British star is set to return to the ring on July 25 for a warm-up bout with lesser-known Albanian Kristian Prenga. Victory there will launch Joshua into a long-awaited all-British showdown with Tyson Fury at the back end of the year.

Many had anticipated that the Fury fight would be Joshua’s last dance. However, AJ believes he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

“It’s only like three or four years… I’m coming up to 37 in October, so it’s only three years; it’ll go quick (sic).

“Obviously, it’s gonna be tough, but I definitely think I’m tough enough to do it. Why not, why not? I’m definitely more mature.”

Joshua’s return to the ring comes in the wake of a tragic car crash in December that killed two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

AJ sustained minor injuries but has since made a full recovery and is now in the midst of a camp with Oleksandr Usyk and his team in Spain.

Usyk, who defeated Joshua twice in 2020 and 2021, believes that his former foe has what it takes to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
