Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has revealed that it will organise a coaching programme for World Rugby Certification in Coaching (7s & 15s), Refereeing, Strength Conditioning (S&C) and Medical First Aid. The programme will hold in February 2023 in Abuja.

The General Manager, NRFF, Azeez Ladipo, told The Guardian that the coaching course would afford Nigerian coaches to learn more about modern techniques in rugby so as to improve the standard of the game across the country.

He stated that the current NRFF board was striving hard to reposition the game in the country after the ban on Nigeria Rugby was lifted recently by the international body.

“NRFF is organising a World coaching course for one week in Abuja in February. No date has been announced yet for logistics reasons, because we want to see the number of applicants across the Federation before fixing a particular date.

“International coaches from other countries and experienced Rugby coaches in Nigeria will be teaching people at the event. Those who are interested in the programme across the states have been advised to register for it in their area of interest, which is coaching, refereeing, medical etc. They should also indicate their rugby club and state they represent. NRFF is also working hard to kick off the rugby league next year,” he said.
