It’s Falconets vs Black Princesses in WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup final

Nigeria on Wednesday defeated Benin Republic 3-0 to book a date with perennial rivals, Ghana, in the final of the maiden WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup of Nations holding in Kumasi, Ghana. To qualify for the final, Ghana’s Black Princesses beat Burkina Faso 3-1 in the second semifinals.

Nigeria on Wednesday defeated Benin Republic 3-0 to book a date with perennial rivals, Ghana, in the final of the maiden WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup of Nations holding in Kumasi, Ghana. To qualify for the final, Ghana’s Black Princesses beat Burkina Faso 3-1 in the second semifinals.

Nigeria topped Group A of the competition, which also had Burkina Faso, Togo and Niger Republic, while Ghana led Group A comprising Benin Republic and Cote d’Ivoire.

The Final will hold tomorrow at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi. In the semifinal against Benin Republic, Nigeria took control of the game after an initial spell of Benin dominance. Amina Bello broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, followed by Esther Chinemerem extending the lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute.

Chinemerem continued her remarkable performance, adding a third goal in the 63rd minute, showcasing Nigeria’s superiority. Prior to the final, Burkina Faso and Benin will compete in the third-place playoff at 3.00 p.m.
