Kelechi Nwakali has distanced himself from reports linking him with an imminent transfer to Segunda División side SD Huesca, reports allnigeriasoccer.com.

It has been suggested that the midfielder’s agency, Stellar Football has initiated talks with SD Huesca over the permanent signing of the Nigeria U-23 international and there is a two-year deal on the table.

Nwakali was granted compassionate leave to return Nigeria to bury his grandmother and he is expected to return to the English capital today.

Speaking in the presence of Kelechi, his elder brother, Allwell Nwakali told allnigeriasoccer.com: “The news is not correct, nothing like that for now. If Kelechi is joining a new club, I’ll be the first person to know.

“I know Kelechi will leave Arsenal either on loan or a permanent deal, clubs are coming for him. By God’s grace I know we will be able to get a better club and a club that can play him each game, it’s not all about the money.

“He wants to go to a place where he’ll get the chance to play so he can showcase his talents, that’s what we want.’”

Since joining Arsenal in the summer of 2016, Nwakali has yet to debut for the North London club because he failed to get a work permit and has been farmed out on loan to MVV Maastricht, VVV Venlo and Porto.
